Iris Orange (Raku) Frit, #5

$5.00$15.00

This frit size is perfect for pulling stringers!  This frit is a chameleon.  It starts out a brown frit and with some coaxing you can get gorgeous shades of blues, greens, pinks and purples.  To bring out the colors, give it intense heating and cooling.  Use a cold brass marver to really cool the bead down.  Keep repeating until the colors ‘POP’.  Not Hothead torch friendly.

For added dimension, try layering it with silver foil and clear for some interesting effects.

  • Frit Size #5
  • Reactive Frit
  • Opaque

To make a twistie (like the one I used for this bead) use a large gather of Iris Orange (Raku) using either cane or chunks, striped with Intense Black and pulled into a twistie.  Here is a LampworkETC (LE) thread on how to really get colors to emerge using Iris Orange frit.
